Pial Hope, D.O., is a General Surgeon specializing in metabolic and bariatric surgery at Monument Health Bariatric and Metabolic Institute. Dr. Hope also serves as the Medical Director of Robotics at Rapid City Hospital. He received his medical degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pa. Dr. Hope completed his General Surgery Residency at Beaumont Health — now Corewell Health — in Trenton and Dearborn, Michigan, where he also served as an administrative chief resident. He completed a minimally invasive foregut and bariatric surgery fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas, and the Bariatric Medical Institute of Texas in San Antonio. He specializes in advanced minimally invasive techniques including laparoscopic, endoscopic and robotic-assisted surgery. Dr. Hope is passionate about weight care and helping patients achieve their goals through comprehensive evaluation, careful review of all medical and surgical options and shared decision-making. He is committed to providing the latest advancements in surgical technology to ensure the safest and most effective outcomes possible. Dr. Hope enjoys spending his free time traveling with his family. He is also a musician and plays the tabla, a North Indian percussion instrument.
